We got some sad news yesterday morning. My grandmother passed away in the early morning in Taiwan at the age of 86. In Buddhist tradition, a person’s spirit is said to be reborn after 49 days. During that period of time, family members are asked to chant, and eat only vegetarian meals for 49 days to assist the transition of the spirit to its new place. This will be a bit of a challenge I think, especially with Thanksgiving coming up, but I think we’ll all be giving this a very solid effort.
I met up with my sister and cousin today, and we ended up at this vegetarian dim sum place on Pell Street. For those of you who are vegetarian, this is an amazing option if you are in the New York City area. Here’s a peek at what we had:
- Ordering.
- Buddha Bean Curd Rolls
- Fried Turnip Cakes
- Monk Roll
- Spring Pea Leaves Dumplings
- And of course, there was tea.
